Glamorous in glitter and neon with an underlying darkness, Give Me Pity! screens the unravelling of an all-singing all-dancing hostess, Sissy St. Claire (Sophie von Haselberg) whose debut screen performance is anything from tame. Laughter and music curdles into a bad trip in this much awaited TV special. Screen Daily’s Wendy Ide, at its Rotterdam film festival screening, wrote, “Part exercise in kitsch 1980s analogue nostalgia, part examination of ego-driven diva culture, part psychological horror, Give Me Pity! is a singular vision which could resonate with audiences with a taste for lurid cinematic mischief-making.”
